Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination of three aminoglycoside antibiotics (tobramycin, gentamicin sulfate, and amikacin sulfate) that work by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. Aminoglycosides bind to the 30S ribosomal subunit, interfering with protein synthesis and resulting in bacterial death. This combination is used to treat serious bacterial infections, particularly those caused by aerobic gram-negative bacilli. The three components may be used together for empiric treatment of severe infections where broad coverage against resistant gram-negative organisms is needed.
