Overview

**tocilizumab + chloroquine** is an unbranded combination of two drugs: **tocilizumab**, a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody that acts as an interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor antagonist, and **chloroquine**, a synthetic small molecule antimalarial and immunomodulator. This combination has been studied off-label, primarily during the COVID-19 pandemic, as an experimental protocol in severe COVID-19 cases to leverage the anti-inflammatory effects of tocilizumab and the antiviral/immunomodulatory effects of chloroquine. Limited evidence from case reports suggests potential clinical benefit, but there is no approved fixed-dose pharmaceutical product combining both agents[3][4][5][6]. The combination is used off-label and is not associated with a unique brand or product name. Both drugs act by different mechanisms: tocilizumab by inhibiting IL-6 signaling, dampening cytokine-mediated inflammation, and chloroquine by interfering with viral entry/replication and modulating immune responses.
