Overview

Tocofersolan + tocopherol alpha is a combination of two forms of vitamin E. Tocofersolan (also known as d-alpha-tocopheryl polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate or TPGS) is a synthetic, water-soluble derivative of natural vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol), designed to enhance the absorption and bioavailability of vitamin E in patients with fat malabsorption disorders such as congenital or hereditary chronic cholestasis[1][2][3][7]. Alpha-tocopherol is the most biologically active form of vitamin E and acts as an antioxidant, protecting cell membranes from oxidative damage[4][8]. The combination provides both immediate antioxidant activity from free alpha-tocopherol and improved absorption via the solubilizing properties of tocofersolan. This formulation may be used in pediatric patients with conditions leading to impaired bile secretion and subsequent fat-soluble vitamin deficiencies. Both components act primarily by scavenging free radicals and inhibiting lipid peroxidation within biological membranes[1][4].
