Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tocovid Suprabio is a palm-derived mixed tocotrienol nutraceutical formulation developed by Hovid in collaboration with Professor Yuen Kah Hay. It utilizes the patented SupraBio self-emulsifying delivery system to enhance the oral bioavailability of tocotrienols, which are isoforms of Vitamin E (alpha, gamma, and delta). The product is primarily investigated for its hepatoprotective effects in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL). Its mechanism of action involves potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, specifically targeting the liver to reduce lipid peroxidation and hepatic inflammation. Clinical research has demonstrated that these tocotrienols are preferentially distributed to the liver, where they help circumvent the progression of simple steatosis to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
