Overview

This is a combination of three drugs: - Tofacitinib (CP-690,550) is an oral small molecule Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor developed by Pfizer. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ulcerative colitis. Tofacitinib works by inhibiting JAK1 and JAK3 enzymes, thereby modulating the immune response. - Ethinylestradiol is a synthetic estrogen commonly used in hormonal contraceptives. It acts primarily through binding to estrogen receptor and regulating gene expression involved in reproductive function. - Levonorgestrel is a synthetic progestin also widely used in contraceptive formulations. It acts on progesterone receptor to inhibit ovulation and alter cervical mucus and endometrial lining. The combination of ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel serves as an oral contraceptive for pregnancy prevention[1][4][5]. The addition of tofacitinib may be relevant for drug-drug interaction studies or specific clinical scenarios but does not represent a standard marketed product.
