Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tofogliflozin is a small molecule drug belonging to the class of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. It was developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Tofogliflozin works by selectively inhibiting SGLT2 in the kidneys, thereby reducing glucose reabsorption and promoting urinary glucose excretion, which leads to lower blood glucose levels. The drug has demonstrated efficacy in reducing HbA1c, fasting plasma glucose, body weight, and blood pressure in patients with T2DM. It is generally well tolerated but may increase the risk of urinary tract and genital infections due to its mechanism of action[3][4][5][6].
