Overview

Toki-shakuyakusan is a traditional Japanese Kampo medicine composed of six herbal ingredients: Angelicae Radix, Paeoniae Radix, Cnidii Rhizoma, Alismatis Rhizoma, Poria, and Atractylodis Rhizoma. It is widely used in Japan for gynecological conditions, including menstrual disorders, menopausal symptoms, and infertility, by addressing blood stasis and fluid disturbances. Beyond its traditional use, research has explored its neuroprotective properties, particularly its ability to improve microcirculation and modulate neurotransmitter systems. Clinical trials have investigated its efficacy in treating post-infectious olfactory dysfunction and cognitive impairment associated with dementia.
