Toki-to (TKT) is a traditional Japanese Kampo (herbal) medicine investigated for its neuroprotective potential in the treatment of Parkinson's disease (PD). As a multi-component herbal decoction, it has demonstrated the ability to improve motor symptoms, such as bradykinesia, and protect dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra within animal models of PD. The drug's mechanism of action involves the suppression of **serum- and glucocorticoid-regulated kinase (SGK)** at the transcriptional level, a protein implicated in the pathogenesis of neurodegeneration. Additionally, Toki-to administration has been shown to reverse the downregulation of **tyrosine hydroxylase (TH)** and **dopamine transporter (DAT)** gene expression, thereby halting the progression of neurotoxicity and preserving dopaminergic function.
