tolansetron

Tolansetron is a serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist, structurally and pharmacologically related to other drugs in this class such as ondansetron, granisetron, dolasetron, and palonosetron. It acts by selectively blocking the action of serotonin at 5-HT3 receptors, which are involved in triggering nausea and vomiting. Tolansetron has been investigated primarily for its antiemetic properties—specifically for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapy or surgery. However, it is not approved or widely marketed internationally; most clinical use data comes from research conducted in China during the 1990s.
