Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Toldimfos sodium (also commonly referred to as toldimphos sodium) is an aromatic organic phosphorus compound used in veterinary medicine as a metabolic stimulant and phosphorus supplement. Originally developed by Hoechst in the 1920s for human use to treat physical weakness and exhaustion, it is now exclusively utilized in veterinary medicine. It is indicated for livestock (such as cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and horses) and companion animals (dogs and cats) to treat and prevent phosphorus deficiencies, general metabolic disorders, debility, and skeletal defects like rickets and osteomalacia. It is also highly effective in treating tetany and paresis caused by calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus metabolism disorders, such as post-parturient paresis (downer cow syndrome) in cattle. Formulated as an injectable solution, toldimfos sodium is rapidly absorbed and excreted unchanged in the urine, acting to stimulate metabolism and support cellular energy production without accumulating in tissues.
