Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tolmetin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat mild to moderate pain and relieve symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis in children aged two years and older. It works primarily by inhibiting prostaglandin synthetase (cyclooxygenase), thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate inflammation, pain, and fever. Tolmetin does not cure underlying disease but helps control symptoms as long as it is taken. It is available in oral capsule and tablet forms[1][2][3][4][5].
