Tolterodine + local oestrogens is a combination therapy used primarily for the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms in women, particularly those with urinary frequency, urgency, nocturia, and/or urgency urinary incontinence. Tolterodine is a small molecule muscarinic receptor antagonist that reduces involuntary bladder contractions by blocking muscarinic receptors in the detrusor muscle of the bladder. Local oestrogens (such as intravaginal estradiol cream or other topical estrogen formulations) act as hormone replacement therapy to improve urogenital atrophy and may enhance lower urinary tract function by binding to estrogen receptors in urogenital tissues. Clinical studies have shown that both agents individually improve OAB symptoms; combined therapy may provide additional benefit for some patients over longer-term use[1][2][4][5].
