Overview

TOMM34-299 peptide is a peptide-based cancer vaccine derived from the **34-kDa Translocase of the Outer Mitochondrial Membrane (TOMM34)** protein. TOMM34 is a chaperone-like protein involved in the import of proteins into the mitochondria and is significantly overexpressed in colorectal cancer (CRC) and other solid tumors. The TOMM34-299 peptide (sequence: KLRQEVKQNL) is specifically designed as an epitope restricted to **HLA-A*24:02**, a common human leukocyte antigen allele in Asian populations. Its mechanism involves binding to HLA molecules on the surface of cells to induce a cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) immune response against cancer cells that express the TOMM34 antigen. It has been investigated in Phase I clinical trials, often in combination with other peptides (such as RNF43-721) and chemotherapy (UFT/LV), primarily for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer in Japan.
