Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tong Tai Chung Woodlok Oil is a topical medicated oil formulated as a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for the relief of various physical ailments. Manufactured in Hong Kong by Tong Tai Chung, it contains a combination of active ingredients including methyl salicylate, menthol, and eucalyptus oil. The product is primarily indicated for the external treatment of muscle and joint pain, rheumatism, sprains, and bruises, but is also used for minor conditions such as insect bites, headaches, and dizziness. Its mechanism of action relies on the counter-irritant and analgesic properties of menthol, which provides a cooling sensation, and the anti-inflammatory effects of methyl salicylate, which acts as a topical salicylate to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. It is intended for use by adults and children over six years of age.
