Overview

Tongbian decoction is a traditional Chinese medicinal formula primarily used to treat constipation, particularly slow transit constipation. Its therapeutic effects are mediated through multiple mechanisms, including the modulation of intestinal microbiota, activation of the 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) signaling pathway, and regulation of intestinal motility. Additionally, it has been shown to inhibit cell autophagy via the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway. The decoction is composed of a combination of various Chinese herbs, working synergistically to nourish Yin, aid defecation, regulate Qi, and distribute Jin.
