Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tongchuanqing Granule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of bronchial asthma, particularly during the remission or chronic persistent stages. The formulation is designed based on TCM principles to ventilate the lungs, resolve phlegm, and relieve wheezing. Clinical studies have suggested its efficacy in improving lung function and reducing the frequency of asthma exacerbations by modulating the immune response. Specifically, it has been shown to regulate the Th1/Th2 cytokine balance by decreasing levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as Interleukin-4 (IL-4) and Interleukin-5 (IL-5) while increasing levels of Interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma). As a hospital preparation, its use is currently authorized within the developing institution in Tianjin, China.
