Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tongdu Shujin Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula primarily developed and utilized for the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis (AS). In TCM theory, the decoction is designed to "dredge the Du meridian" (the Governor Vessel) and "relax the tendons" to alleviate the spinal stiffness, pain, and loss of mobility characteristic of AS. It is frequently studied as an adjuvant therapy to be used in combination with conventional biologics, such as adalimumab, to enhance clinical efficacy and address associated comorbidities like anxiety and depression. The formula typically comprises a complex mixture of botanical extracts aimed at tonifying the kidneys, dispelling cold-dampness, and promoting blood circulation to reduce systemic inflammation.
