Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tongfengxiaotong granule is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) hospital preparation developed by the Yunnan Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of gout and hyperuricemia. The formulation is designed to clear heat, resolve dampness, and activate blood circulation to alleviate the pain and inflammation associated with acute and chronic gouty arthritis. Pharmacological studies indicate that the granule works by lowering serum uric acid levels through the inhibition of xanthine oxidase and by suppressing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β and TNF-α. It is a multi-herbal combination typically including ingredients such as *Smilax glabra*, *Dioscorea septemloba*, and *Plantago asiatica*, which are traditionally used for their diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties.
