Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tongguan Formula (also known as Tongguan Capsule or Tongguan Fang) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal compound developed by the Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, specifically at the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine. It is formulated based on the TCM principles of tonifying Qi, resolving phlegm, and activating blood circulation to treat cardiovascular diseases. The formula typically consists of **Ginseng** (or Astragalus), **Radix Notoginseng** (Sanqi), **Rhizoma Pinelliae** (Banxia), **Alumen**, and **Radix Glycyrrhizae** (Licorice). It is primarily indicated for patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and acute coronary syndrome (ACS), particularly as a post-revascularization treatment following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or coronary artery bypass graft (CABG). The therapeutic goal is to reduce the incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), prevent restenosis, and improve long-term prognosis by modulating inflammatory pathways, inhibiting platelet aggregation, and protecting the vascular endothelium.
