Tongguanteng Pian is an approved traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal tablet developed and marketed by Suzhong Pharmaceutical Group. It is formulated from the stem of *Marsdenia tenacissima* (Tongguanteng). The drug is primarily indicated for the treatment of various malignancies, including esophageal, gastric, lung, colorectal, and cervical cancers, as well as leukemia. It is used both as a monotherapy and as an adjuvant treatment alongside radiotherapy, chemotherapy, or surgery to enhance therapeutic efficacy and mitigate side effects. Beyond its antineoplastic applications, Tongguanteng Pian is also indicated for chronic bronchitis and bronchial asthma, leveraging its anti-inflammatory and bronchodilatory properties. The active constituents, primarily C21 steroidal saponins such as tenacissosides, are believed to contribute to its multi-targeted anti-tumor mechanism.
