Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tongluo Yanggan Plaster (通络养肝贴) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) topical formulation developed for the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, specifically knee osteoarthritis. The formulation is based on the TCM principle of "nourishing the liver to benefit the tendons" (养肝益筋), as the liver is traditionally believed to govern the health and function of the tendons and ligaments. The plaster is designed to "dredge the meridians" (Tongluo) to improve local blood circulation, resolve stasis, and alleviate pain. Clinical research, including studies sponsored by the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, has investigated its efficacy and safety in reducing joint pain, stiffness, and functional limitations in patients with degenerative arthritis, often comparing it to other standard TCM plasters.
