Tongren-Dahuoluo Bolus (also known as Tongren Dahuoluowan) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulation being evaluated for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis, specifically in patients presenting with liver-kidney deficiency syndrome and/or cold-dampness arthralgia syndrome. Developed and studied by Guang'anmen Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, this complex herbal formulation is administered orally as a large pill (bolus). It is currently being investigated in Phase 4 clinical trials to assess its long-term safety, tolerability, and efficacy in improving symptoms of knee osteoarthritis compared to placebo over a 24-week research cycle. The formulation is traditionally used in China for various musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, including stroke and rheumatoid arthritis.
