Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tongtian oral liquid is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation widely used in China for the treatment of various types of headaches, particularly migraines and tension-type headaches. It is derived from the classical TCM formula "Chuanxiong Chatiao San" and is produced through modern extraction techniques. The formulation typically includes several herbal ingredients such as *Ligusticum chuanxiong*, *Angelica dahurica*, *Notopterygium incisum*, *Angelica sinensis*, *Scutellaria baicalensis*, *Saposhnikovia divaricata*, *Chrysanthemum indicum*, *Mentha haplocalyx*, and *Camellia sinensis*. Its therapeutic effects are attributed to its ability to modulate the trigeminal vascular system, improve vascular endothelial function, regulate the autonomic nervous system, and influence blood coagulation. Clinical studies have compared its efficacy to triptans like rizatriptan for the acute treatment of chronic migraine attacks.
