Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tongxieyaofang granules is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formulation primarily used for the treatment of diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D). The formula typically consists of four main herbal ingredients: *Atractylodes macrocephala* (Baizhu), *Paeonia lactiflora* (Baishao), *Citrus reticulata* (Chenpi), and *Saposhnikovia divaricata* (Fangfeng). It is traditionally indicated for patients diagnosed with the TCM pattern of liver depression and spleen deficiency. Research indicates that the formulation may exert its therapeutic effects by modulating the intestinal microbiota–bile acid metabolic axis, enhancing intestinal mucosal barrier function, and regulating brain–gut interactions to reduce visceral hypersensitivity.
