Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tongxin Yinao (通心益脑颗粒) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound granule formulation used primarily for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular aging-related diseases. It is based on the TCM theory of "simultaneous treatment of heart and brain" and targets complex comorbidities in elderly populations, particularly those involving both cardiac and cerebral vascular systems. The formula typically contains multiple herbal ingredients with purported effects such as promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, nourishing qi (vital energy), calming the mind, improving microcirculation in brain tissue, supporting neural function recovery, and providing neuroprotection. Its mechanism involves multi-target modulation including anti-inflammatory effects, antioxidation, improvement of cerebral microcirculation, inhibition of platelet aggregation, protection against ischemic injury to neurons and vascular endothelium. Tongxin Yinao is mainly indicated for cognitive impairment related to delayed encephalopathy after acute carbon monoxide poisoning (DEACMP), as well as other conditions involving cognitive decline or vascular dementia[1][3]. Clinical studies suggest it may improve cognitive scores when combined with standard therapies.
