Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tongyang Huoxue Decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by researchers at Guang'anmen Hospital and the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. It is primarily investigated for the treatment of sick sinus syndrome (SSS), a condition characterized by sinoatrial node dysfunction leading to abnormal heart rhythms. Based on TCM principles, the decoction is formulated to warm yang and promote blood circulation (huoxue), aiming to improve heart rate and alleviate clinical symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, and palpitations. In clinical evaluations, the decoction has been administered in a granule form and compared against standard pharmacological treatments like theophylline sustained-release tablets to assess its efficacy and safety in improving cardiac conduction.
