Overview
Tongzhi Surunjiang Capsule is a traditional Uighur herbal medicine developed by Xinjiang Uighur Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. It is formulated based on the ancient Uyghur medical text 'Karzhibadin Kadeer' and contains seven herbal ingredients: Senna, Colchicum, Terminalia chebula, box fruit vine (Operculina turpethum), almond (Prunus amygdalus), saffron (Crocus sativus), and Scammony resin. The medicine is primarily used for the treatment of acute gouty arthritis and various rheumatic conditions. Its therapeutic effects are attributed to its ability to reduce inflammatory markers such as ESR and C-reactive protein, and suppress the expression of inflammatory cytokines including IL-1β and TNF-α, likely through the inhibition of the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway. It is approved in China and is included in the National Medical Insurance list.
