Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tongzhi Surunjiang Tablet is a traditional Uighur herbal medicine developed by Xinjiang Uighur Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for the treatment of rheumatism and joint pain, particularly acute gouty arthritis. The formulation consists of several herbal ingredients, including Senna, Colchicum, Terminalia chebula, box fruit vine, almond, saffron, and scabra. Pharmacological studies indicate that the drug effectively relieves symptoms by reducing inflammatory markers such as erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP), and by suppressing the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines including Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α). While a capsule version of this formulation is already a National Medical Insurance product in China, the tablet formulation is currently in the IND-enabling/clinical approval phase.
