Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tonsipret is a phytopharmaceutical and homeopathic medicinal product developed by Bionorica SE for the treatment of acute inflammatory diseases of the throat and pharynx, including tonsillitis and sore throat. The formulation is produced using Bionorica's proprietary 'Phytoneering' approach and consists of a combination of three herbal active ingredients: *Capsicum annuum* (medicinal capsicum) in D3 dilution, *Guaiacum* (pockwood) in D3 dilution, and *Phytolacca americana* (pokeweed) as a mother tincture. The capsaicin within the medicinal capsicum component acts to inhibit pain sensation, while the constituents of pokeweed and guaiacum wood provide anti-inflammatory effects by targeting the underlying inflammation in the throat tissues. Tonsipret is available in oral tablet and drop forms and is approved for use in respiratory tract disorders.
