Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Tonsitin** is a 10% DL-lactic acid syrup formulated as a raspberry-flavored oral dietary supplement for treating recurrent tonsillitis (RT) in children aged 5-16. It has demonstrated good tolerability and safety in a randomized, double-blind pilot study involving 51 children with at least 4 tonsillitis episodes per year, showing mild adverse events in a small subset and non-significant reductions in tonsil size and episode frequency. Developed for clinical use in outpatient settings, it is administered twice daily for one month, with evaluations up to 6 months post-treatment focusing on safety, tonsil size, recurrence rates, and quality of life.[1][3][5]
