Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Tonvasca** is an oral fixed-dose lipid-lowering capsule developed and manufactured by Orient Pharma. Each capsule contains pitavastatin calcium 2 mg and ezetimibe 10 mg. Pitavastatin competitively inhibits 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase, reducing hepatic cholesterol synthesis, while ezetimibe inhibits Niemann-Pick C1-like protein 1-mediated intestinal cholesterol absorption. The complementary mechanisms lower circulating LDL cholesterol and are indicated in Taiwan for primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. The product is a microgranule-filled capsule formulation. ([mcp.fda.gov.tw](https://mcp.fda.gov.tw/im_detail_1/%E8%A1%9B%E9%83%A8%E8%97%A5%E8%A3%BD%E5%AD%97%E7%AC%AC061165%E8%99%9F))
