Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Topegfilgrastim is a Y-type polyethylene glycol (PEG) modified recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (rhG-CSF). It functions as a cytokine by binding to specific G-CSF receptors on hematopoietic progenitor cells within the bone marrow. This interaction stimulates the proliferation, differentiation, and maturation of neutrophil precursors, leading to an increase in circulating neutrophil counts. The primary indication for topegfilgrastim is to reduce the incidence of infection, particularly febrile neutropenia, in patients with non-myeloid malignancies undergoing myelosuppressive chemotherapy. Its pegylated structure extends its half-life, allowing for less frequent administration compared to non-pegylated G-CSF. It was developed by Xiamen Tebao Bioengineering Co., Ltd. as a new generation long-acting G-CSF.
