It is widely used for hypertension but may be less potent than indapamide or chlorthalidone[3][9]. - **Doxazosin**: An alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist (alpha-blocker) that causes vasodilation by relaxing vascular smooth muscle, thereby reducing peripheral resistance and lowering blood pressure. The combination leverages multiple mechanisms—diuresis via different nephron sites (loop plus distal convoluted tubule) along with direct vasodilation—to achieve additive antihypertensive effects. Such multi-drug regimens are sometimes considered for resistant hypertension when monotherapy or dual therapy fails to achieve target blood pressures[2][8].
