Torcytech

Torcytech is a branded generic formulation of torasemide, a loop diuretic developed and marketed by Cytech Pharma. It functions by inhibiting the Na+-K+-2Cl- cotransporter (NKCC2) in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle. This inhibition prevents the reabsorption of sodium, potassium, and chloride, leading to increased excretion of water and electrolytes (diuresis). It is primarily indicated for the management of edema associated with congestive heart failure, renal disease, and hepatic cirrhosis, as well as for the treatment of hypertension.
