Overview

Toricox is a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor developed and marketed by Uni-Pharma. It contains the active ingredient etoricoxib, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by blocking the COX-2 enzyme responsible for producing prostaglandins that mediate pain and inflammation. Unlike non-selective NSAIDs, etoricoxib's selectivity for COX-2 is intended to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal side effects. It is indicated for the symptomatic relief of chronic inflammatory conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis, as well as acute pain and inflammation associated with gouty arthritis. The drug is administered orally as film-coated tablets in various strengths.
