This therapeutic regimen is a triple-modality combination being investigated for the treatment of recurrent or metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC). It consists of **toripalimab**, a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor to block its interaction with PD-L1 and PD-L2, thereby restoring T-cell anti-tumor activity; **axitinib**, a potent and selective small-molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR-1, VEGFR-2, and VEGFR-3) that inhibits tumor angiogenesis; and **stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR)**, a non-invasive technique that delivers high doses of ionizing radiation to specific tumor sites. The combination aims to leverage the synergistic effects of local tumor destruction and potential systemic immune activation (abscopal effect) induced by SABR, the anti-angiogenic properties of axitinib, and the immune checkpoint inhibition of toripalimab. This specific regimen is currently being evaluated in a Phase 2 clinical trial led by Peking University First Hospital.
