This combination regimen is a chemoimmunotherapy induction therapy primarily used in the neoadjuvant setting for locally advanced thoracic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). It consists of **toripalimab**, a humanized IgG4 monoclonal antibody that targets the Programmed Cell Death Protein 1 (PD-1) receptor to enhance T-cell anti-tumor activity; **nab-paclitaxel** (albumin-bound paclitaxel), a microtubule inhibitor that disrupts mitotic spindle formation; and a **platinum-based chemotherapy** agent (such as cisplatin or carboplatin) that induces DNA cross-linking and subsequent apoptosis. The regimen is currently being evaluated in Phase III clinical trials to determine if patients achieving a clinical response can undergo organ preservation via radical chemoradiotherapy as an alternative to immediate radical esophagectomy.
