Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Total alkaloids from Gelsemium elegans Benth. (TAG) is a natural product extract derived from the plant Gelsemium elegans Benth. It has demonstrated anti-hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) activity both in vitro and in vivo. Its mechanism of action involves inhibiting the proliferation of various tumor cells, including SMMC-7721, HepG2, H22, CAL27, MCF7, HT29, and HCT116, and promoting apoptosis. The inhibitory effect of TAG on HCC is linked to the regulation of the key gene CXCL13.
