Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Total flavonoids of guangjinqiancao (also known as total flavonoids of *Desmodium styracifolium* or TFDS) is a purified, standardized botanical extract derived from the aerial parts of the medicinal plant *Desmodium styracifolium* (Osbeck) Merr. Developed by Humanwell Healthcare and its subsidiary Wuhan Optics Valley Humanwell Bio-Pharmaceutical, it was approved by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in 2022 as a 1.2-class innovative traditional Chinese medicine under the brand name Guangshitong (广石通). It is indicated for the treatment and prevention of urolithiasis (ureteral and kidney stones), particularly calcium oxalate stones. Mechanistically, TFDS exerts multi-target therapeutic effects, including promoting diuresis, reducing renal calcium oxalate crystal deposition, inhibiting crystal nucleation and growth, promoting stone dissolution, and suppressing associated renal inflammation and oxidative stress.
