Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Total glucosides of paeony** is a standardized multi-constituent botanical extract prepared from the root of *Paeonia lactiflora*. It is marketed in China as oral Pafulin capsules for rheumatoid arthritis. The extract is enriched in monoterpene glycosides, particularly paeoniflorin, and has anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory activity. Its pharmacology is pleiotropic rather than attributable to one validated molecular target: preclinical studies associate TGP with reduced dendritic-cell activation, modulation of T-cell subsets including Th1, Th17 and regulatory T cells, and suppression of inflammatory signaling such as STAT1, STAT3 and p38 MAPK activity. It is being clinically investigated in several autoimmune and inflammatory diseases beyond rheumatoid arthritis. ([lansen.com.cn](https://www.lansen.com.cn/ch/jbzs.html?categoryId=19))
