Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Total saponins of Radix clematidis (TSC) is a natural product extract derived from the roots and rhizomes of *Clematis* species, including *Clematis chinensis*, *Clematis hexapetala*, and *Clematis mandshurica*. It is the primary active fraction responsible for the anti-arthritic properties of the traditional Chinese medicine Wei-ling-xian. TSC is composed of various triterpenoid saponins, with clematichinenoside AR identified as a major active component. Research indicates that TSC exerts therapeutic effects in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) by inhibiting the excessive proliferation of fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS). This is achieved through the modulation of the lncRNA OIP5-AS1/miR-410-3p/Wnt7b signaling axis and the inhibition of the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway. TSC also influences metabolic processes involving glycerophospholipids, sphingolipids, and arachidonic acid.
