Overview

Total-Stromal-cells (TOST) refers to a therapeutic product derived from adipose tissue, comprising a heterogeneous mixture of cells including adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs), pericytes, and smooth muscle cells. Unlike stromal vascular fraction (SVF) which is typically isolated enzymatically, TOST is obtained through mechanical methods, preserving the extracellular matrix and intercellular bonds. These cells are characterized by their multipotency, ability to differentiate into various cell types, and their angiogenic and immunomodulatory properties, primarily due to the secretion of growth factors and cytokines. TOST is being investigated for its regenerative potential in conditions such as knee osteoarthritis and androgenetic alopecia.
