Overview
Tou Feng Yu Pill (TFY) is a **traditional Chinese herbal medicine** formulation specifically developed for the treatment of **migraine**. It consists of three herbal components: **Radix Angelicae dahuricae** (Baizhi), **Rhizome Ligustici** (Chuanxiong), and **Folium Camelliae sinensis** (green tea). The therapeutic mechanism involves multiple pathways: (1) **adjusting neurotransmitter levels** including dopamine, serotonin (5-HT), norepinephrine (NE), and neuropeptides such as calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), thereby relieving neurogenic inflammation; (2) **modulating vasoactive substances** including nitric oxide (NO) and endothelin (ET), improving vasomotion and cerebral blood flow while reducing cerebrovascular resistance; and (3) **increasing pain threshold** through analgesic effects.
