Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Toujiequwen Granules, originally known as the Pneumonia No. 1 Formula (肺炎1号方), is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) product developed by the Guangzhou Eighth People's Hospital for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19. The formulation was granted emergency approval for hospital use by the Guangdong Provincial Medical Products Administration in February 2020. It consists of 16 herbal ingredients, including Forsythiae Fructus (Lianqiao) and Lonicerae Japonicae Flos (Jinyinhua), which are traditionally used to clear heat and detoxify. Clinical observations and retrospective studies have indicated that the granules can improve clinical symptoms such as fever and cough, and may reduce the likelihood of patients progressing to severe disease. The production of the granules was scaled up through a partnership with Zhongsheng Pharmaceutical to meet demand during the pandemic.
