Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tovaxin is an investigational therapeutic vaccine developed for the treatment of multiple sclerosis. It is a form of autologous T cell vaccine, meaning it is created from the patient’s own myelin-reactive T cells, which are expanded and then attenuated ex vivo before being reintroduced to induce immune tolerance. The primary mechanism involves modulating the immune response against myelin antigens implicated in multiple sclerosis pathogenesis. Tovaxin was primarily developed by Opexa Therapeutics for relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis.
