Overview
ToxiBan Granules is a marketed veterinary oral adsorbent and antidote formulation developed by Lloyd Pharma (LLOYD, Inc.) for the emergency treatment of acute poisoning in domestic animals, including dogs, cats, horses, cattle, sheep, and goats. The formulation is a water-miscible granule containing MedChar (activated charcoal USP), kaolin, and sorbitol. Activated charcoal acts as a broad-spectrum physical adsorbent that binds and inactivates orally ingested organic chemical toxicants (such as insecticides, rodenticides, herbicides, and analgesics) within the gastrointestinal tract, preventing their systemic absorption. Kaolin provides additional adsorptive properties and acts as a gastrointestinal protectant by coating the intestinal lining. Sorbitol is included as a mild hyperosmotic cathartic to promote rapid gastrointestinal transit and facilitate the prompt elimination of the adsorbed toxin-charcoal complex. ToxiBan Granules are reconstituted with water to form a suspension for oral administration or delivery via a stomach tube.
