Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Toxiphage is a brand name for a line of prescription-based symbiotic products, combining probiotics and prebiotics, developed and manufactured by Biokindle Lifesciences. [1, 2, 4] It is formulated as an oral capsule containing various strains of live microorganisms, such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, along with prebiotics like fructooligosaccharides. [4, 5] The primary mechanism of action is the modulation of the gut microbiome to help remove uremic toxins, such as p-cresyl sulphate (PCS) and indoxyl sulphate (IS), which is particularly relevant in managing chronic kidney disease (CKD). [1, 3] In addition to supporting kidney health, Toxiphage is indicated for a range of gastrointestinal issues, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and various forms of diarrhea, by restoring healthy gut flora and improving digestive functions.
