Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Toxta is a botulinum toxin type A (100 units) product manufactured by the South Korean company JETEMA. It is a purified neurotoxin complex derived from *Clostridium botulinum* strain ATCC 3502. The drug functions by entering presynaptic cholinergic nerve terminals and cleaving the SNAP-25 protein, a critical component of the SNARE complex required for vesicle fusion. By blocking the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, Toxta induces temporary chemo-denervation and local muscle relaxation. It is primarily indicated for aesthetic procedures, such as the temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar lines (dynamic facial wrinkles) in adults, and is administered via intramuscular or intradermal injection.
