Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TPM-02 is an aqueous, lipid-free intravenous formulation of the anesthetic propofol, utilizing the Targeted Penetration Matrix (TPM) delivery system. Developed by Avecho Biotechnology, the TPM technology consists of a proprietary mixture of phosphorylated tocopherols (Vitamin E derivatives) that increase the solubility of lipophilic drugs. Standard propofol is typically formulated as a macro-emulsion containing soybean oil and egg lecithin, which can lead to pain on injection, risk of lipid intolerance, and support bacterial growth. TPM-02 is designed as a clear solution to mitigate these issues, potentially offering a safer and more stable alternative for induction and maintenance of anesthesia and sedation.
