Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**TPN Electrolytes** is a prescription fixed-dose intravenous electrolyte additive originally developed by Hospira for adult patients receiving total parenteral nutrition. The concentrated solution contains sodium acetate, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, sodium chloride, and potassium chloride, and must be diluted and thoroughly mixed before intravenous infusion. It replaces sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, chloride, and acetate ions to support normal cellular metabolism and maintain electrolyte homeostasis during parenteral nutrition; it contains no phosphate. The product is marketed under a New Drug Application. ([dailymed.nlm.nih.gov](https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?setid=c00817bc-7b62-4abe-0280-e7930eda3f94))
